Parked Paintings

Kevin Cyr's paintings of graffiti vans remind me so much of New York City (home). The way that the vehicles are in focus and removed from their natural habitats makes them surreal and haunting. They're a testament to how we transform, shape and contort our environment in an attempt to leave a lasting, almost immortal mark on the world.

Kevin Cyr's statement:

In a culture in which people are easily lured by the appeal of status-enhancing symbols, I find beauty in derelict cars and unkempt landscapes. I have always been interested in painting vehicles and scenes that have defined the evolution of the American landscape.
