I'm always interested in what goes on behind closed doors, in places where strangers may meet, united by vices, or where people escape to create a moment, a slice of life for themselves, no rules - you're far away from home. Nothing to remind you of the boundaries you're supposed to keep.
There's a dark pinkish underbelly to what happens behind the room lens, and photographers Chili and Liu have captured this beautifully with their Red Star Motel series, inspired by Lyndon Wade's Room 107 series, which is equally awesome. It's great to see how the creative process feeds and thrives across borders.
