Projections

Images within images. A world inside a world. Reminds me of the new theory that our own Universe may be the interior of a black hole existing in another universe. But I digress, beautiful projections by Marlon Kowalski. See more here.

Hair Styles

Love these hair profiles illustrated by Mr. Bingo. The absence of the faces of these cultural icons is powerful and odd.

Mini food

There's something intriguing about creating an entire universe that can fit in the palm of your hand or in a shoe box. Stephanie Kilgast imagines what it would take to feed the little people of this world with Petit Plat (little dishes).

Move over Gecko.

The pig's on his way home. Strange, but oddly amusing ad for Geico Insurance. (It already almost racked up 4 million views on YouTube).

Drawing attention to consumption

Artist Kate Bingaman-Burt photographs and then illustrates her everyday purchases. She draws attention to our relationship with stuff in a way that is satirical and endearing. Kate's Obsessive Consumption prints available here. (Check out the last print - a collection of goods bought over three months).

Good copy can make you angry.

Chevy is trying to revive Mad Men in 2010, which may not be such a good idea. A strange nostalgia.

Knitting Meat

Warm, cuddly, and ethical meat. The only catch is you can't eat it, but it sure looks good. Stitched by Stephanie Casper.

Coconut Dreams

I wake-up from coconut dreams
smelling like suntan lotion.
Wooden planks creak and complain
as I walk to the kitchen to make coffee,
to shake the sweet REM hangover.
The air ripples the nylon nightgown,
goose-bumps travel along thighs,
bunny-eared slippers stand to attention.
The poster of an anonymous beach
stares mockingly.
A low giggle swirls along the floor
stirring dust, underwear and socks
like a strange cake mix.
The wind shakes the trailer,
knocks the ashtray onto the stained carpet.
The big, used bed calls collect
and I accept the charges.

An Elegant Order

There's something beautiful about the simplicity of objects placed neatly, in a certain order. See more systematic elegance on Things Organized Neatly.
